Counting up change rather than subtracting it. A tip worked from 10%. Sales tax at 5, 12, 13 or 15% — the rate is written into every question, so it is right wherever you live. And a whole column on whether something is actually a deal: “$4 each, or 3 for $10?” and, further up, “an $800 laptop lasting four years, or a $500 one lasting two?”
The comparison questions deliberately do not divide to find a unit price, because real pack sizes and .99 prices never divide cleanly. You scale one side until the counts match, then compare money — the method that works in the aisle. Some of these are squarely adult questions, and that is intended.
Coro — chorus. Everyone gets to play.
